De wereld slaapt nog wanneer fotograaf Jan Thomas de uitkijktoren van de Lommelse Sahara beklimt. De koude wind streelt zijn gezicht. Alles om hem heen is stil. 

Langzaam breekt de zon door de horizon. Haar eerste stralen kleuren de lucht in zachte rozen- en ambertinten. Het hout van de toren warmt op onder het gouden licht. Hier, hoog boven tussen kou en licht, tussen wind en stilte, lijkt alles mogelijk. Lommel ontwaakt langzaam...
