Deze week duiken we de pure blues in met **John Lee Hooker.** **Live at Cafe Au-Go-Go** toont hem op z’n best: rauw, hypnotiserend en onweerstaanbaar groovend. Opgenomen in New York, met een jonge Muddy Waters Band als begeleiding, hoor je hier de blues in z’n meest eerlijke vorm.  
  
Een absoluut hoogtepunt is “**I’ll Never Get Out Of These Blues Alive**”. Live klinkt het nummer zinderend en intens, maar ook de studioversie op het gelijknamige album is fantastisch — zeker de uitvoering samen met Van Morrison, die het nummer nog extra soul meegeeft.
