# Davidsfonds viert 11 juli

Zoals de traditie het wil, wordt op 11 juli de Vlaamse Feestdag gevierd. Vandaag dus... Maar bij het Davidsfonds vieren ze dit meestal de avond ervoor, en zo ook gisterenavond in het Huis van de Stad.

Ondervoorzitter Marc Witters stond in voor het openingswoord, waarbij hij o.a. de historische rol van het Davidsfonds belichtte. Daarna was het woord aan gastspreker **Huub Broers**, voormalig burgemeester van Voeren. Hij besprak o.a. de ontstaansgeschiedenis van het Davidsfonds, en bij uitbreiding de geschiedenis van de Vlaamse beweging, maar gaf de aanwezigen ook inkijk in zijn persoonlijk engagement.

Voor de muzikale omlijsting zorgde gitarist Cedric Honings. En tot slot van deze avond werd (uiteraard) de Vlaamse Leeuw uit volle borst gezongen, waarna een gezelliuge receptie was voorzien op het terras, verzorgd door enkele leden van KSA De Lommelse Blauwvoeters.
